Keep reading to discover our answers to the most FAQ about The Ordinary and the brand’s range of bestselling products.

Q: Is The Ordinary cruelty-free?

A: Yes! Like all of the brands under DECIEM, none of the products from The Ordinary are tested on animals, making them both cruelty-free and suitable for vegetarians.

Q: Can The Ordinary Products be combined?

A: They sure can. The Ordinary Products are usually based around one key ingredient, meaning they can definitely be layered to cater to different skincare concerns you may be facing. However, the brand recommends that no more than three serums be used in an AM or PM routine.

Q: Are there any products from The Ordinary that shouldn’t be combined?

Niacinamide and any products containing Vitamin C shouldn’t be used in the same immediate routine because they cancel each other out. If you’re looking to include both in your routine, use one in the AM and the other in the PM.

Q: Which are the best products for acne from The Ordinary?

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% High Strength Vitamin and Mineral Blemish Formula has been proven to minimise the look of blemishes. The addition of Zinc Salt balances the formula, helping regulate oil production for visibly clearer and refined skin.

The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution penetrates the interior walls of congested pores to unclog and clear impurities, increase circulation and help clear excess oil.

Q: Which is the best product for irritated skin?

The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil works to re-hydrate dry, flaky and irritated skin types. It also helps to heal acne scarring and uneven skin tone.

Q: Which primer from The Ordinary is best?

We love The Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer because it works well for all skin types. It’s formulated with adaptive silicone particles, which ensure a long-lasting foundation base, even skin tone, minimised fine lines and reduced pore size. It both hydrates and mattifies in one application, keeping skin healthy and moisturised without becoming oily  throughout the day.

Q: What order should I use my products from The Ordinary in?

Generally speaking, we’d recommend that products are layered in terms of consistency. Start with your thinnest product first (usually water-based serums) and work up to your thicker products (Oils next, and then rich creams)

Q: How do I know the expiry date of The Ordinary products?

We’d recommend using your products from The Ordinary within 12 months. The brand also suggests to consult the period-after-opening symbol to be sure. This can be found on the side of the box as well as on the actual product (it looks like a little moisturiser container and featured a number followed by the letter M, which specifies how many months the product can be used for after opening).
